About the Campaign

MISSION: Protecting Pollinators, Creating Community, Ending Use of Pesticides

VISION: Everyday citizens using our votes, dollars, and gardens to protect pollinators and our food supply, knowing that our fate is completely interconnected.

Born in 2021, BeeFriendlyNevada aims to help people growing pollinator habitats in their front yards communicate with their more traditional neighbors still spraying pesticides and poisoning their dandelions with Round Up.  Sponsored by Reno Food Systems and Help Save the Bees Foundation, the first Pollinator Posse passed out over 500 BeeFriendlyReno signs in two years and was successful in creating a sense of community and solidarity amongst bee lovers in Reno. Using recycled politcal campaign signs and donated wire frames, BeeFriendlyReno was an affordable beginning.

In 2023, the Pollinator Posse shifted its focus toward helping pass AB 162 which banned non-agricultural use of neonicotinoids.

In June of 2024, we rebranded the campaign and launched BeeFriendlyNevada. 2500 signs later, 2026 we’re still going strong.

Goals for 2027 include collaboration with Beyond Pesticides to take the campaign national.
